ADDITIONS TO PROGRAMMING

DALLAS, TX, March 12, 2008—AFI DALLAS International Film Festival Presented by Target, Founding Sponsor Victory Park announces its Closing Night Party on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at House of Blues in Dallas.

Hosted by AFI DALLAS Board of Directors member and Founders Circle donor Ruth O’Donnell Mutch, the AFI DALLAS Closing Night Party will feature a performance by Dallas-based band The Polyphonic Spree. Entrance to the Closing Night Party will be open to AFI DALLAS Premiere Pass holders.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of the AFI DALLAS Festival! It’s exciting for Dallas in general. I’m a huge fan of film and flattered to perform at the party on closing night. A real treat,” said Tim DeLaughter of The Polyphonic Spree.

AFI DALLAS also announced a second screening of Barry Levinson’s WHAT JUST HAPPENED?, and new additions to the 2008 festival schedule in the Family Friendly, Environmental Visions and Midnight Specials categories.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED? will screen on Friday, April 4th at the Landmark Inwood Theater, with Robert De Niro in attendance for a Q&A session following the film. Starring an exceptional cast including Robert DeNiro, Bruce Willis, Sean Penn, Catherine Keener, Stanley Tucci and John Turturro, the film adaptation of Art Linson’s account of his day-to-day existence as a studio producer resonates with truth, insight, and the absurdity that often fills our lives.

AFI DALLAS will also team with the Sundance Channel for two environmental showcases sponsored by Lexus that include thought-provoking episodes from BIG IDEAS FOR A SMALL PLANET (screening Saturday, March 29th at the Dallas Museum of Art) and FIGHTING GOLIATH: TEXAS COAL WARS (screening Friday, April 5th at the Angelika Film Center). These Sundance Channel presentations, though not for competition, are part of the Environmental Visions category and place additional emphasis on AFI DALLAS’ focus on the environment and conservation as a whole.

Other additions to the 2008 slate of films include:

ATOM NINE ADVENTURES
Directed by Christopher Farley and starring Dallas-native Jennifer Ferguson, the film tells the story of a scientist who recovers an ancient meteorite containing an alien organism that transforms him into a high-flying superhero. It will screen on Saturday, April 5 at the AMC NorthPark as part of the festival’s Family Friendly programming.

THE CHAIR
Directed by Brett Sullivan, the film features Alanna Chisholm as Danielle, a beautiful, young psychology student who unknowingly awakens the evil specter of a child killer in her century-old Victorian house. Hungry to satisfy his taste for torturing boys, the spirit uses Danielle as a pawn to resurrect his ghastly ‘Panic Chair.’ THE CHAIR will screen on Saturday, April 5 at the Angelika Film Center as one of the festival’s Midnight Special screenings

Howdy! Miss you all. Just a little update, some new news for most of you....

1. Oh I Feel Fine video..coming out on at&t blue room march 25. basically we had a couple of days to give them something "exclusive" so we decided on phil's remix he'd done awhile back and visually pulled footage from or last xmas/rock show..but we weren't sure how to make the footage seem cohesive to an obviously recorded/remixed track that we never perform live. so, while at mile's house/editor brainstorimg, his sweet dog abby became a very apparent source! we took her out into the backyard of his home and tim and her had long, thoughtful conversation about the spree. you'll see.

2. in the studio..the speekers (tim, julie and mark) scoring a childrens' dvd...can't tell ya name of it yet because the creator is in process of crossing t's and i's! we'll just say in concept it will appeal to most everyone around the world! yet the intial inspiration was born from the need to enlighten and entertain infants! we're hoping to finish it by june and find placement in nyc's moma museum!

3. april 26...norman show..ya know

4. might play wildflower fest in may..not firm

5. we'll be working up another daisy cover..HINT: from the self titled!

6. STUDIO: we are starting mixing LIVE tracks from xmas/rock show and editing live footage! hoping to have ready for all by june! hoping to start xmas album in MAY...if not, looks like we'll be writing a new original album!
7.july/aug...going overseas for festivals etc!
8. we are still in conversations about a polyphonic "show" we'd like to start in dallas..an installation. we're pitching ideas and working out ideas for the script daily!
